About this role
Support the Abrams Comic Arts Design team by working on design implementation and assisting with departmental workflow for graphic novels, manga, and illustrated titles. This role offers a creative environment to develop design skills.
🎯 About the Role
Gain hands-on experience in book design within the publishing industry, contributing to projects across various imprints. You will work with design software and collaborate with a creative team.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
- 🎨 Set up design mechanicals based on templates
- 📝 Follow process documents to prepare files for lettering and typesetting
- ✏️ Make text and design corrections to cover mechanicals and interior passes
- 📦 Assist with shipping and scanning artwork
- 🗣️ Attend and contribute to cover review meetings
- 🖼️ Help create ancillary materials and work with the digital asset management system
- 🌐 Adapt foreign-language editions for the US market
✅ Requirements & Skills
- 🎓 Currently enrolled in a college program with a focus/major in graphic design or illustration
- 📖 Interest in Comics, Graphic Novels, and Manga
- 🖌️ Experience using the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office
- 🗂️ Detail-oriented and able to work efficiently in a deadline-driven environment
- 🤝 Proactive with strong communication and collaboration skills
- 🧠 Motivated to learn, grow, research, solve problems, and work closely with design staff
- 📄 A portfolio is required
