Mechanical Intern

Engage in hands-on mechanical work, from CAD coordination to vendor management and workshop floor involvement, to ensure product parts are on track and well-fitted.

🎯 About the Role

This is a full-time, on-site internship focused on the physical aspects of product development. You will work directly with the mechanical coordinator, checking fits against CAD, visiting vendors, inspecting parts, and managing the mechanical supply chain end-to-end.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities

• 💻 Coordinate with mechanical design engineers, tracking CAD revisions and flagging concerns.
• 📐 Support fit-checks by comparing physical samples against CAD models.
• 🏭 Assist with mould vendor coordination, attending visits and tracking progress.
• 🛒 Source and procure small mechanical components, comparing suppliers.
• 🔩 Coordinate with material vendors for various subsystems.
• 🔍 Perform incoming quality checks on mechanical parts.
• 🛠️ Support sub-assembly and hands-on prototype builds.
• 📊 Maintain a tracker of mechanical vendors, part status, and open issues.

✅ Requirements & Skills

• 📐 Comfortable reading and navigating 3D CAD models and STEP files.
• ⚙️ Basic understanding of common manufacturing processes (injection molding, silicone molding).
• 🧱 Working knowledge of common engineering materials (plastics, silicone, textiles).
• 📏 Ability to read a basic technical drawing.
• 🗂️ Comfortable using spreadsheets for tracking parts and vendors.
• ✅ Strong follow-through and organizational skills.
• 🚀 Bonus: Experience with 3D printing, prototyping, or maker spaces.
