Cost Engineering Intern

Drive cost savings on operations by analyzing parts, building cost models, and supporting supplier negotiations within a Corporate Development team.

🎯 About the Role

This role involves working across engineering, procurement, and production to find and deliver cost savings. Key tasks include analyzing parts and assemblies for cost drivers, building cost models, supporting supplier sourcing and negotiation, and contributing to strategic Corporate Development projects with direct visibility to senior management.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities

• 🔍 Find where cost is being carried unnecessarily in parts and assemblies.
• 🔧 Work with engineers on design to cost and manufacturing methods.
• 📊 Build up target costs from material, process, tooling, and logistics.
• ⚖️ Compare alternatives on cost, feasibility, and lead time.
• 👥 Research and assess suppliers, with a focus on North America.
• 🤝 Support supplier qualification and development.
• 🗣️ Prepare the analysis behind supplier negotiations.
• 🙋 Take part in supplier negotiations.

✅ Requirements & Skills

• 🎓 Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a comparable technical field, or recent grad.
• 📄 Able to read technical drawings and comfortable with common manufacturing processes.
• 🧠 Strong analytical skills and confident in Excel.
• 📈 Exposure to CAD or ERP systems is an advantage.
• ✅ Willing to adapt to new situations and challenges.
• 💡 Self-starting, curious, and ready to take ownership.
• 🇬🇧 Fluent in English, both written and verbal. German language skills are a plus!
