Develop innovative product designs for marine applications, working with a team of designers and engineers on conceptual and production work.

๐ŸŽฏ About the Role

As an Industrial Design Intern, you will contribute to both conceptual and production design work for Mercury's marine-specific products. This role interfaces with Engineering and Product Integration teams, requiring the use of design skills to generate ideas for marine propulsion systems and controls.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Key Responsibilities

  • โœ๏ธ Create concepts in 2D and 3D to convey design intent.
  • ๐Ÿ’ก Generate conceptual designs and learn production design processes.
  • ๐Ÿ‘ฅ Work cross-functionally with other designers and engineering staff.
  • ๐Ÿ’ฌ Participate in weekly design critiques on active projects.
  • ๐Ÿš€ Utilize rapid visualization with physical and digital tools.
  • ๐ŸŽจ Create Color, Materials, and Finishes (CMF) concepts.
  • ๐Ÿ›ฅ๏ธ Assist the design team with projects on propulsion systems and product graphics.

โœ… Requirements & Skills

  • ๐ŸŽ“ Enrolled in an accredited university studying toward a bachelorโ€™s degree for Industrial Design.
  • ๐ŸŒŸ Imaginative mindset and problem-solving abilities.
  • โœ๏ธ Strong abilities in sketching, form development, surface interest, and proportions.
  • ๐Ÿ’ป Solid knowledge of design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • ๐Ÿงฑ Product concepting including sketches, renderings, and model building.
  • ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Clear communicator, motivated, and ambitious with a user-centric mindset.
  • ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ Proficient in MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • ๐Ÿ“š Minimum second semester sophomore status with 48 completed credits.
  • ๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Availability to work full-time (40+ hours/week) May through August 2027.

๐Ÿ’ฐ Compensation: $18.00-27.50 per hour
