Develop innovative product designs for marine applications, working with a team of designers and engineers on conceptual and production work.
🎯 About the Role
As an Industrial Design Intern, you will contribute to both conceptual and production design work for Mercury's marine-specific products. This role interfaces with Engineering and Product Integration teams, requiring the use of design skills to generate ideas for marine propulsion systems and controls.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
- ✏️ Create concepts in 2D and 3D to convey design intent.
- 💡 Generate conceptual designs and learn production design processes.
- 👥 Work cross-functionally with other designers and engineering staff.
- 💬 Participate in weekly design critiques on active projects.
- 🚀 Utilize rapid visualization with physical and digital tools.
- 🎨 Create Color, Materials, and Finishes (CMF) concepts.
- 🛥️ Assist the design team with projects on propulsion systems and product graphics.
✅ Requirements & Skills
- 🎓 Enrolled in an accredited university studying toward a bachelor’s degree for Industrial Design.
- 🌟 Imaginative mindset and problem-solving abilities.
- ✍️ Strong abilities in sketching, form development, surface interest, and proportions.
- 💻 Solid knowledge of design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator).
- 🧱 Product concepting including sketches, renderings, and model building.
- 🗣️ Clear communicator, motivated, and ambitious with a user-centric mindset.
- 🖥️ Proficient in MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook).
- 📚 Minimum second semester sophomore status with 48 completed credits.
- 🗓️ Availability to work full-time (40+ hours/week) May through August 2027.
💰 Compensation: $18.00-27.50 per hour
