Emergency Management Officer, Emerging Talent Intern

Support critical emergency management functions for the Long Island Rail Road, assisting with planning, coordination, and compliance initiatives.

🎯 About the Role

This internship involves providing day-to-day assistance to the Long Island Rail Road Office of Emergency Management (OEM). You will support emergency coordination calls, grant research, training logistics, and data management, contributing to the safety and resilience of the railroad system.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities

• 📅 Assist with scheduling meetings and supporting departmental projects.
• 📜 Ensure compliance with OSHA Title 29 CFR Part 1910 Subpart E.
• 💰 Identify potential funding opportunities and maintain a grant database.
• 📚 Assist in preparing draft summaries and organizing materials for grant submissions.
• 🧑‍🏫 Schedule training sessions, track attendance, and manage logistics.
• 🗂️ Maintain accurate records of project timelines, budgets, and participation metrics.
• 📊 Prepare a final project presentation on accomplishments and learnings.

✅ Requirements & Skills

• 💻 Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
• 📊 Organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• ⏳ Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
• 🧐 Keen eye for detail and ability to work independently as an active team player.
• 🎓 Matriculated in an undergraduate program (2.5 GPA) or graduate program (2.8 GPA).
• 🌍 Authorized to work in the United States.

💰 Compensation: $19.00 (Undergraduate), $21.00 (Graduate) Hourly Rate
