🎯 About the Role
This internship offers a unique opportunity to support the reliable operation of the transmission system by assisting in monitoring voltages, loadings, and coordinating with various control centers. You will learn about operational procedures and contribute to maintaining system integrity.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
- ⚡ Assist in monitoring and regulating system voltage levels and power flows.
- ⚡ Coordinate with the AEP SCC and neighboring utilities for real-time transmission system operation.
- ⚡ Prepare basic switching orders for equipment removal and restoration.
- ⚡ Log events and maintain records of facility operations.
- ⚡ Observe and assist in operating the SCADA system.
- ⚡ Monitor and report malfunctions in relaying, metering, and communication facilities.
✅ Requirements & Skills
- 🎓 High School diploma and currently enrolled in a two-year technical degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field.
- 🌟 Minimum 2.7 GPA.
- 🚗 Valid state driver's license.
- ⏱️ Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours a week, including a rotating shift schedule.
- 🛠️ Ability to work under pressure and analyze information.
- 💻 Must complete an online assessment (HireVue Dispatcher Worker Virtual Job Tryout).
💰 Compensation: $31.00 per hour
📍 Location: American Electric Power (On-Site)
