UTAP Intern

Assist with implementing accessibility initiatives and stewardship needs on preserves, combining office and field-based work.

🎯 About the Role

This internship focuses on trail data assessment using the Universal Trail Assessment Process (UTAP) and creating maps with ESRI software. You will also support stewardship activities such as trail maintenance and volunteer coordination.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities

• 📊 Collect, process, and analyze trail data using ESRI Survey 123.
• 🗺️ Create maps (story maps, trail maps, kiosk maps) using ESRI ArcPro.
• 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Collaborate with and train UTAP volunteers.
• 📸 Record videos and capture photos of trail characteristics.
• 📝 Produce trail accessibility signage and educational materials.
• 🛠️ Help with stewardship volunteer workdays and trail maintenance.

✅ Requirements & Skills

• 🎓 Currently enrolled in a university program in Conservation, Natural Resource Management, Planning, or related field.
• 💻 Experience with ESRI ArcPro, Survey 123, or other mapping software.
• 🧰 Adept at working with manual and mechanized stewardship tools.
• 👨‍💻 Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Online Suite.
• ✍️ Strong reading and writing skills with the ability to interpret scientific data.
• 💯 Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• 🚶 Ability to perform strenuous physical activities and work long hours at a computer.
