🎯 About the Role
This role is crucial for New Product Development (NPD), translating design concepts into physical molds with accuracy in shrinkage factors and draft angles. You will validate digital designs through physical test castings and ensure downstream dimensional checks.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
- 📏 Apply accurate shrinkage factors for "green size" determination.
- 🧐 Perform checks on mold fitment and finish after CNC milling.
- 📝 Prepare modification reports and provide inputs to the CAD Team.
- 🔧 Execute manual mold modifications to resolve functional and dimensional issues.
- ⚖️ Validate modifications by performing "Before & After" dimensional comparisons.
- 👩🔬 Lead test casting of milled molds to identify output gaps.
- ✅ Inspect draft angles to prevent demolding failures.
- 🚶 Conduct GEMBA in sample mold lines to observe demolding processes.
- 🎨 Perform "KANSA" checks at various stages (Green, White Body, ceramic).
- 📧 Respond to deviations in White Body or Kiln areas.
- 📊 Prepare NPD trial reports and presentations for reviews.
- 👥 Lead daily meetings with Associates and collaborate with Case Makers.
- 💡 Identify and submit Kaizens for process improvement.
✅ Requirements & Skills
- 🔧 Proficiency in Manual molding, shrinkage factor calculation, and mold fitment analysis.
- ⚙️ Expertise in ceramic demolding processes, manual mold modification, and dimensional "Kansa".
- 🤸 Adaptability for troubleshooting and strict focus on "Before/After" validation.
- 🎨 Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts (Ceramic Industrial Design).
- 🏭 5-8 years in Hand modeling and mold development, ideally in manufacturing or R&D.
- 💻 Expertise in Creo CAD (3D & 2D), Think Design, and Design X.
